May 25 is Africa Day, the official day of the African Union. It is an opportunity to celebrate African diversity and success. This year Irish people will join Africans around the world in highlighting the cultural, social and political life of the African continent.
Irish Aid supporting Africa Day celebrations in Ireland
Irish Aid is the Government's programme of assistance to some of the poorest countries in the world. Irish Aid works on your behalf to reduce poverty, inequality and exclusion in developing countries. This year, the Government will spend €914 million on overseas aid, making Ireland one of the most generous countries in the world.

The Africa Day Film Festival features a selection of world class filmmaking, which celebrates the creative potential that exists on such a vast and varied continent.
Culture
A day of African culture, Art and Crafts, African food, including: dance workshop, hair-braiding workshop, photo exhibition, and adult and children's literature.
Music
The Afro-gig music extravaganza will feature Kanda Bongo Man, the most famous exponent of Soukous in Africa will play at the Ambassador Theatre.
