facilitates the 'twinning' of schools in Ireland with counterparts in the Western Cape, Eastern Cape and Kwazulu Natal provinces of South Africa. Through a range of projects and programmes, students and teachers are able to explore the culture and experience of life in their respective countries.
British Council Global Schools Partnership www.britishcouncil.org/globalschools
provides grants and support for schools wanting to establish partnerships with schools in the south. Although schools in the Republic of Ireland are not eligible for funding, there is a wealth of information, including a downloadable resource to guide schools wanting to establish or develop their partnership.
Global Gateway www.globalgateway.org
is managed by the British Council and has many relevant links and downloadable materials for teachers. It also offers a partner-finding service.
Link Community Development www.lcd.org.uk
aims to improve the potential of disadvantaged people in Africa to gain meaningful employment by sharing and developing appropriate skills through education and training. It has a school partnership programme with downloadable classroom resources and links to further areas of relevance.

aims to empower students in Ireland, Northern Ireland, Israel and Palestine to engage in reflection, understanding and communication, focusing on conflict realities and issues and local and global interdependence.

has a network of student societies across Ireland engaged in a variety of voluntary activities and runs an annual programme of evening courses and speaker events nationwide. It also offers an overseas volunteering programme each year and provides support to schools and education NGOs across India and Kenya.

has an immersion programme focusing on providing students and teachers of the Christian Brothers' schools in Ireland with an opportunity to visit the developing world and become aware of the issues associated with poverty and justice in both the developed and developing world.
