Gemini Ireland

We are a network of six schools based in the Midlands involved in school linking and development education. We link up schools in Ireland with schools in Africa and Asia and help the schools involved to strengthen this link through development education work. This includes running activities such as joint workshops and debates in order to raise awareness of development issues.

Gemini Ireland’s aims are

- To assist in the development of education in developing countries
- To create an awareness of the needs of the people in the developing countries
- To gain an understanding of different world cultures
- For linked schools to participate in a cultural exchange of projects and letters

The Irish schools involved with Gemini Ireland are as follows:

  • Clonaslee Vocational School (Co. Laois),
  • Coláiste Naomh Cormac (Co. Offaly),
  • Mercy Secondary School Ballymahon (Co. Longford),
  • Moyne Community School (Co. Longford),
  • Tullamore College (Co. Offaly)
  • Wilson's Hospital (Co. Westmeath)

We have created a website that you can check out at www.gemini-ireland.com.

Through our network we hope to create an awareness among Irish students of the problems facing the Developing World and to broaden their knowledge of African and Asian cultures.
