Case studies provide insights and ideas about how schools and networks of schools approach their WorldWise projects. The WorldWise team will be updating this section of the site throughout 2010. If you would like to have your school partnership project represented here just contact us.
St. Dominic's High School (Santa Sabina) Sutton, Dublin and Masongola Secondary School, Zomba, Malawi This partnership is in its first year, having grown out of a Trócaire study visit by a teacher from Santa Sabina to Malawi in 2008. Following an initial exchange of student profiles, students and teachers from both schools now participating in WorldWise are involved in joint project work on the environment, rights and responsibilities, and health. St. Mary’s CBS Enniscorthy, Wexford and Queen of the Rosary School, Bo, Sierra Leone CBS Enniscorthy had long been keen to establish a link with a partner school, as they felt it was important to give their students a different view of life, and to examine issues from different perspectives. Rockbrook Park School, Dublin and John Paul II Secondary School, Nairobi The link between Irish school Rockbrook Park and their Kenyan partner John Paul II Mixed Secondary School is now in its third year, having been established with the help of Strathmore University, Nairobi, in 2007 and supported by WorldWise. Ballyfermot College of Further Education, Dublin and Evelyn Hone College of Applied Arts and Commerce, Lusaka The partnership between Ballyfermot College of Further Education, Dublin and Evelyn Hone College of Applied Arts and Commerce, Lusaka, was established in 2007 as a multi-stranded and long-term project. Lifelinks: St. Aloysius College, Carrigtwohill, Ireland and Mutito Girls' Secondary School, Kitui, Kenya St. Aloysius College, Carrigtwohill and Mutito Girls’ Secondary School, Kitui, have been in contact since 1996 through Irish project coordinator, Mary O’Donovan Cowhey, who is an English and Religion teacher in St. Aloysius. New Millennium, New Friendship: Gort Community School, Galway, Ireland and Tana Hike Secondary School, Bahir Dar, Ethiopia The human-rights based approach to this partnership project is what makes it particularly dynamic, and any development issues that are focused on between Gort and Tana Hike, such as HIV/AIDS or gender-based violence, are linked back to the area of human rights. Seamount College, Kinvara, Ireland and Notre Dame Girls' Senior High School, Sunyani, Ghana In Seamount College, Kinvara, development education has been a part of the school curriculum for over three years, both as a subject in its own right in Transition Year and through cross-curricular links in Geography, Religion, CSPE and Art. In 2007 this Dev Ed programme was enriched by the start of a partnership project with Notre Dame Girls’ Senior High School in Sunyani, Ghana.
