WorldWise Teachers' Conference

Date: Tuesday 06 May 2008
Time: 10:00 – 15:30
Venue: The Irish Aid Volunteering and Information Centre

The first WorldWise Teachers’ Conference was held on May 6 in the Irish Aid Volunteering and Information Centre.

Fifty participants, including representatives from 30 schools, the development education sector, Irish Aid, and existing linking and immersion programmes, attended the conference. Our keynote speaker was Mbemba Jabbi, the Project Officer for development education and civic participation at the Africa Centre, and the day consisted of a series of school presentations, group discussions and workshops.

Feedback from the day was extremely positive, with some very constructive ideas on what to include in future conferences and how the scheme can move forward into its second year. We are currently compiling a report on the conference that will be posted on the website over the coming weeks.
