Guidelines

Please take time to read through the following information before starting this project

  1. 1Each project can be undertaken by pairs, a group, class or as a whole school.
  2. 2All individuals working on a project must be registered pupils in a Primary or Special Needs School and between the ages of 8 and 13 (7 to 18 in Special Needs Schools). We welcome entries from Special Needs Schools, judges will take into consideration that these are Special Needs School Entries.
  3. 3 All work entered must be pupil’s own but may be aided/guided by a teacher. Each entry must have the signature of a teacher/principal to attest it is the pupils’ own work and has the support of the school.
  4. Projects may be completed in Irish or English.
  5. The competition categories are as follows:
    • Category A: 3rd & 4th Classes and Years 5 & 6 (Northern Ireland) or Special Needs Equivalent
    • Category B: 5th & 6th Classes and Year 7 ( Northern Ireland) or Special Needs Equivalent
    • Category C: Whole School
  6. 4ENTRIES MUST BE SENT TO OUR WORLD IRISH AID AWARDS, Real Events, Fumbally Court, Fumbally Lane, Dublin 8, BY FRIDAY 2ND DECEMBER 2011
  7. 5Each entry must be accompanied by a completed entry form.
  8. 6Any audio visual entries should be a maximum of three minutes long.
  9. 7Entries cannot be returned under any circumstances.
  10. 8Entries that are three dimensional or fragile should be submitted as photographs as we cannot accept the physical pieces themselves. Two dimensional work should be no larger than A2 when compact. If necessary, arrangements will be made to collect pieces if needed for the exhibition and awards ceremony.
  11. 9The awards are as follows:
    • Schools which enter projects which have consistently shown an understanding of the subject and creativity will receive an “Our World Irish Aid Awards” plaque.
    • Ten to fifteen projects (from categories A, B and C) that have shown an excellent understanding of the issues will be invited to an awards ceremony in Dublin to receive an award.
    • One additional entry who has been judged to have created an outstanding project will also be invited to attend the ceremony and will receive the “Our World Irish Aid Awards” trophy.

Rules and Regulations

  1. 1 The judges and the sponsoring organisation will not enter into correspondence with regard to judges’ decisions and the decision of the judges in all the competition entry categories will be final.
  2. 2 Real Events and Irish Aid cannot accept responsibility for lost, damaged or delayed entries. Proof of posting is not proof of receipt.
  3. 3 Employees, contractors or persons directly or professionally associated with employees of Real Events or Irish Aid may not enter this competition.
  4. 4 It is imperative that all entries must be pupils’ original work and not plagiarised wholly or in part.
  5. 5 Short-listed entrants may be asked to provide proof of age and to confirm the authenticity of their entry.
  6. 6 All entrants agree to be bound by the rules of the competition; failure on the part of any entrant to adhere to any or all of these rules will render the entry in question invalid.
  7. 7 Schools that have been successful in receiving a prize in addition to a plaque will be notified in January 2012. Plaques will arrive in schools shortly thereafter.
  8. 8 Prize winners invited to the exhibition and awards ceremony must be accompanied by a parent, teacher or guardian.
  9. 9 Prize-winners may be required to participate in publicity (photographs, interview, quotations etc.)
  10. 10 The promoters reserve the right to change prize specifications subject to availability at conclusion of this competition. No cash or alternative in whole or part of the prize will be offered.
  11. 11 By entering this competition copyright of all original material is retained by the author.
  12. 12 In the case of a class/whole school entry, a restricted amount of participants will be able to attend the awards ceremony. Each school will be notified of the amount should they progress to that stage.
